Snaps Dev Log #3: Graphic Overhaul and New Barbed Wire Feature
Hello!
Welcome to our third dev log for Snaps. We've been hard at work making some exciting updates to the game, and we can't wait to share them with you. In this update, we're focusing on our graphic overhaul to enhance the visual experience and introduce a brand-new gameplay feature: barbed wire!
Graphic Updates: A More Cohesive Anime Aesthetic
One of our primary goals for Snaps is to create a visually immersive world that resonates with our anime-themed vision. We've revamped the game's textures to ensure a more cohesive and anime-like aesthetic. This update includes improvements to various environments, making the game's visual style more consistent and pleasing to the eye.
Before and After: Houses and Outdoors
Here, you can see the transformation of our house textures. The updated textures are better aligned with our anime-inspired art direction. The outdoor environments now feel more vibrant and alive, enhancing the overall atmosphere.
Before and After: Town Center
The town center has also received a significant facelift. With more cohesive textures and improved lighting, the heart of our town now feels more inviting and dynamic.
Before and After: Around the Church
We've paid special attention to the area around the church, a key location in Snaps. The updated textures bring out the character of this area, making it both eerie and captivating.
Before and After: Inside the Apartment
The interiors have not been neglected. As you can see, the apartments now have richer textures and a more polished look, enhancing the player's sense of immersion.
Color Variations for Different Times of Day
To further enhance the visual experience, we've introduced color variations that change depending on the time of day. Morning, evening, and night now each have their own unique color palettes, adding depth and realism to the game world.
This update not only makes the game more visually appealing but also helps players feel the passage of time, adding to the immersive experience.
Introducing the Barbed Wire Feature
We're excited to introduce a new gameplay feature: barbed wire! This feature adds a strategic element to defending your town against nightly cultist raids.
Barbed Wire in the Town Hall
Players can now purchase barbed wire at the Town Hall. Similar to turrets, barbed wire can be placed anywhere in the town to block the cultists' paths.
Placing Barbed Wire to Block an Alley
When placing barbed wire, you'll need to think strategically. It forces cultists to find alternative routes, slowing them down and causing damage if they attempt to pass through it.
Using Barbed Wire to Reroute Cultists During a Raid
During raids, barbed wire can be a game-changer. As cultists try to navigate around these barriers, you'll have more time to prepare your defenses and counter their attacks. Remember, barbed wire takes damage as cultists pass through it, but it will regenerate to full health after each raid. You can also move it around during the day to optimize your defense strategy.
We hope you enjoy these updates as much as we enjoyed working on them! Please don't forget to wishlist Snaps on Steam and follow us on itch.io for more updates. Your support helps us continue improving the game and bringing new features to life.
