Snaps Dev Log #5: A New Look for Snaps
Big changes are here! We’ve been working hard to refine the visual direction of Snaps. What started with an anime-inspired art style has now evolved into something new: a stylized art style that emphasizes clarity, mood, and atmosphere.
A Fresh Visual Identity
The characters, textures, and overall look of the game have all been reworked. NPCs now feel more distinct and grounded in the world, while the environments have taken on a moodier, more stylized tone. This shift is helping us create a game world that feels both immersive and easy to read during chaotic battles.
Color with Purpose
One of the biggest changes is how color is used throughout Snaps. Instead of flooding the screen with detail, we’ve limited strong colors to highlight interactive and important objects. Weapons, usable items, and key NPCs stand out with vibrant tones, while the rest of the world rests in soft grayscale with subtle hints of color.
This helps keep the focus on what matters while giving the village and dungeons a unique, almost storybook quality.
Setting the Tone
This new style supports the mood we’ve been aiming for all along: a strange village under siege, where day-to-day life collides with nightly cultist raids. The desaturated backgrounds add tension, while the pops of color guide the player’s attention naturally.
What’s Next
We’re excited about how this new style will shape the experience of Snaps. With these changes, the game feels more cohesive, more readable, and better at drawing players into its world.
As always, thank you for following along with development! We can’t wait to share more updates soon.
